Lockheed Martin Invests in Alabama and Strengthens the Workforce Pipeline

TROY, Ala., March 10, 2026 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) signed an incentive agreement with the state of Alabama to support its production facility in Pike County. The agreement will create new full-time positions at Lockheed Martin’s Pike County production facility, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the region’s skilled workforce and its customers to meet rising munitions production demand.

THE BIG PICTURE 

The agreement highlights an investment by Lockheed Martin of over $150 million for the next five years.

Lockheed Martin Pike County Operations has grown significantly since its opening in 1994 to becoming a catalyst to southeast Alabama’s economy. The facility manufactures and supports hardware for key weapon and missile systems, including the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon system, Javelin® missile, HELLFIRE missile, JASSM® and Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM).  

WHY IT MATTERS 

The Lockheed Martin Pike County Operations facility is located in northern Pike County on approximately 3,800 acres and employs over 800 employees.

Since 2019, this facility has created more than 300 new, full-time jobs.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT 

  • Alabama Industrial Development Training, Alabama’s workforce development agency, has been assisting Lockheed Martin’s Pike County Operation for over 30 years and opened a $2 million, 7,000-square-foot Advanced Training Center on its campus in 2017. This center provides innovative hands-on training solutions to provide a skilled workforce ready to exceed increasing production demands.
  • In 2019, Lockheed Martin launched a program to train local high school students for career opportunities with a hands-on curriculum in the classroom. Today, this program is now active in three local school systems, providing a pathway to STEM careers for high school students.
