DALLAS, Aug. 12, 2026 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) completed the first integrated live-fire test from the company’s newest containerized launcher – Kodiak™. This demonstration test used a Reduced-Range Practice Rocket (RRPR), to demonstrate the ability to employ offensive fires from a containerized launcher.

THE BIG PICTURE

The Lockheed Martin team demonstrated its ability to load and launch a RRPR from a containerized launcher. This test comes just a few months after several successful GRIZZLY™ tests. By proving the possibility to containerize both offensive and defensive fires, Lockheed Martin is providing the Department of War with cost-efficient and low-observable weapon capability options. Containerized launchers enhance flexibility and lethality for any mission.

WHY IT MATTERS

• Plug-and-Play: The Kodiak containerized launcher can be deployed from air, land or sea platforms, making it a versatile solution for every service branch. Each container holds up to 12 GMLRS® rockets, providing the user with scalable firepower from a single, compact footprint.
• Practice Makes Perfect: RRPR is the training round used by HIMARS® and M270A2 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) crews to practice live-fire training with munitions, like GMLRS and the rest of the MLRS Family of Munitions (MFOM).
• Delivery When it Matters: GMLRS gives commanders the ability to engage targets at extended ranges with accuracy and speed – so warfighters have what they need when and where they need it most.
• Flexibility of Containerization: The ability to have offensive fires weapons in a containerized launcher gives the customer agility to move operations as needed.
• Demonstrated Capability, Expanded GMLRS Capacity: This demonstration highlights a mature system backed by a robust production base – the GMLRS capacity continues to expand to meet increasing demand while containerized launchers could continue to rapidly provide capability where and when its needed.
