DALLAS, Dec. 18, 2025 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) has conducted a successful 112-kilometer flight test of its Extended‑Range GMLRS (ER GMLRS) at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. During the demonstration, an Alternative Warhead (AW) variant of the rocket was launched from a HIMARS – validating the system’s range, accuracy and lethality.

WHY IT MATTERS

• Quickly becoming warfighter-ready: This test moves the AW variant toward operational use by the U.S. Army and its international partners.
• Range doubled: ER GMLRS reaches 150 km, more than twice the 70km range of the standard-range GMLRS.
• Same reliability: Precision and reliability remain at the level users expect from the original system.
• Expanded mission: The extended reach allows engagement of high value, time sensitive targets with greater battlespace coverage. This reach supports counter air defense suppression and enables effects on demand across both point (unitary) and area (alternative warhead) targets.
• Force structure efficiency: ER GMLRS is compatible with existing HIMARS and M270A2 launchers. Lockheed Martin is providing new capability without requiring additional launch platforms or changes to existing unit organization.
