Lockheed Martin Donation Makes Way for Veterans Park
Project Pays Tribute to Those Who Served, Connected to Archbald

ARCHBALD, Pa., Sept. 11, 2017 – Lockheed Martin's (NYSE: LMT) Archbald Operations has donated a parcel of land to the Borough of Archbald to build a veterans memorial park.

The project, which will comprise approximately two acres along Kennedy Drive, will be led by the Archbald Borough Veterans Memorial Park Committee, a 501c3 nonprofit organization established specifically for this initiative.

"This committee is passionate about memorializing our U.S. Armed Forces' men and women and their service to this country, and we appreciate Lockheed Martin for sharing these same values," said Rob Turlip, chairman of the Archbald Borough Veterans Monument Park Committee. "Thanks to their donation, the Archbald community will have a permanent place to show respect to our country's veterans."

The park is intended to honor all those who have served in the U.S. armed forces, and especially those who are from or who have resided in the Archbald area.

"Our company has been built on supporting this country's service members," said Peter Rosecrans, general manager at Archbald Operations. "Lockheed Martin is committed to supporting this community, and providing a home for this project was an ideal way to contribute."

The committee intends to develop a park that includes decommissioned military equipment, markers, flag poles and more. The project is anticipated to be completed in the next three years.

Lockheed Martin’s 350,000-square-foot facility in Archbald has been in continuous operation since 1951. The site has received numerous awards throughout the years, including the 2015 Governor’s Export ImPAct award, the 2013 Archbald Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence, the 2013 Industry Week Best Plants Award, the 2012 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce 2013 SAGE Award for a Healthy Workplace, the 2005 Shingo Price for Excellence in Manufacturing, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Voluntary Protection Program Star site award.
