Lockheed Martin Information Systems delivered the first Close Combat Tactical Trainer M2A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle simulator kit to the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas.

The new kits provide soldiers with the capabilities to train in the newest generation of Bradley Fighting Vehicles using digitized command and control instrumentation, 2nd generation forward looking infrared (FLIR) radar, an independent viewer for commanders, automated ballistics solutions and target- tracking software. An additional 33 simulator kits will be delivered within the next year, with a total of 77 to be delivered in the course of the five- year contract. The contract is valued at nearly $17 million.

"Our customers' readiness is our business," said Lockheed Martin Information Systems President John Hallal. "Reconfigurable simulators enhance training value and expand throughput by enabling soldiers to receive training for specific tactical vehicle configurations without requiring travel to remote training facilities."

Orlando-based Lockheed Martin Information Systems was awarded the contract by the U.S. Army's Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) in May 2001. Information Systems is the prime contractor for CCTT simulators, which train armor, cavalry, and mechanized infantry platoons through battalion and task force on doctrinal mission training plan collective tasks.
