STRATFORD, Conn., Feb. 17, 2020 – Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company (NYSE: LMT), announced today that the S-76C++™ helicopter has been certified by Peru’s aeronautic authority, Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC), to operate in-country, making it the first helicopter ever to initiate offshore operations in Peru. FlyOne, operating in partnership with the Brazilian company OMNI, began operations in-country in January.
The S-76C++ helicopter will fly offshore missions from the Tumbes Basin in Peru on behalf of Karoon Energy. The certification demonstrates the continued significant growth of Sikorsky and Lockheed Martin’s presence in Latin America.
"OMNI is the largest aircraft operator in the oil and gas segment in Brazil. This operation in Peru is a seed for the internationalization of our operations in Latin America,” said OMNI CEO Roberto Coimbra. “We are happy to have Karoon and Sikorsky join us on this journey."
“Customers around the world trust Sikorsky for safe, reliable helicopters, and we are stepping up our Latin American presence, especially with offshore oil operations,” said Adam Schierholz, Sikorsky Regional Executive for Latin America. “We are excited and very proud to be the OEM of choice for FlyOne and OMNI in Peru.”
More than 300 Sikorsky aircraft are currently operating in Latin America, including S-92s, S-76s, and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. Peru is the 52nd country in which the S-76 helicopter operates, and Sikorsky continues to expand its reach into Latin America and other emerging global markets.
