Releases
WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 14, 2024 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has announced ModSTAR™, a new transformative initiative that leverages model-based engineering to deliver new products faster and with planned modular upgrades, providing early and evolving capability to our customers. ModSTAR shares digital and hardware models between programs, transforming the way we support customer requirements when developing new programs, ensuring scalable, flexible and open systems to meet evolving needs.
As all-digital programs mature, ModSTAR is building a digital hardware catalog of common product architectures and proven hardware solutions, complementing ARISE™ – Lockheed Martin’s digital engineering simulation environment. ARISE offers similar sharing on the software side, including mission software and common hardware-in-the-loop through a modern, mature DevSecOps environment. Furthermore, ARISE includes a fully integrated simulation and data analytics suite with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) capability.
Recent examples of successful applications of ARISE include the recent contract announcement to develop AI tools for DARPA’s AIR program and the PrSM program announced last year.
ModSTAR and ARISE together enable engineers to tap into proven all-digital designs from across Lockheed Martin to accelerate development and boost maturity while saving time and cost – all of which we pass on to our customers. These digital resources enable teams to search for digital models of comparable products that have flown in a tactical environment, then select modular parts that meet requirements and generate a starting program model. This approach significantly accelerates the development process, bringing our customers world-class discriminating technologies on the best possible timeline.
Lockheed Martin has a long history of successfully developing and integrating AI and ML technologies into its products and services. This is part of our 21st Century Security® vision, which aims to build a more advanced, resilient and collaborative defense industry, so we can deliver more cutting-edge capabilities faster and more affordably to the United States and our allies.
