LOS ANGELES, Feb. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Aero Club of Southern California yesterday honored Lockheed Martin Chairman, President and CEO Marillyn Hewson as the 39th recipient of the Howard Hughes Memorial Award.
"Marillyn joins an illustrious group of former aerospace legends," said John Stammreich, Aero Club president. "She exemplifies the spirit of this award through her bold leadership and significant contributions to driving innovation in aerospace."
Established in 1978 by the Hughes family, the award is presented annually to an aerospace leader whose accomplishments have significantly furthered the advancement of aviation or space technology.
"I am honored to represent the men and women of Lockheed Martin whose drive and ingenuity have defined new eras in flight," said Hewson. "The award is made even more special by the long and distinguished list of past awardees – men and women who have reshaped the future by what they have done in the skies and in space."
