Sikorsky Employees Build and Donate Bicycles to Miami Children’s Hospital Patients

Stratford, Connecticut -

Feb. 12, 2015 – Earlier this month, Sikorsky Aircraft employees assembled and donated 50 bicycles to patients at Miami Children’s Hospital Doral Outpatient Center. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX)

The bicycles were assembled during Sikorsky’s Worldwide Sales Conference held recently in Miami, and were donated to 50 patients from Miami Children’s Hospital Doral Outpatient Center who were chosen by the hospital staff. Sikorsky also provided a helmet, bike lock and backpack with each bicycle.

Sikorsky and Miami Children’s Hospital have worked together since 1994 when the hospital launched its Lifeflight program and purchased its first S-76C™ helicopter for Emergency Medical Service transportation.

“Just as Miami Children’s Hospital is known for world-class care of its patients, Sikorsky is committed to ensuring the safe helicopter transportation for their patients with emergency needs,” said Jeanette Eaton who leads Global Sales at Sikorsky Commercial Systems & Services. “This event was just a small way to show our appreciation and commitment to this ongoing relationship and the people who depend on our aircraft.”

During the building process, the bicycles were frequently checked for safety by mechanics from the Miami Bike Shop. When the assembly was complete, the bikes were delivered to the Doral Outpatient Center where patients and representatives from Miami Children’s Hospital joined Sikorsky employees to accept the bicycles.
