BETHESDA, Md., June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Defense Security Service (DSS) has recognized seven Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) sites with its 2014 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Awards. The award is one of the most prestigious honors that can be bestowed on cleared industry contractors. This marks the first time one company has ever received seven Cogswell awards.

More than 13,000 defense contractors were nominated for Cogswell Awards but only 40 companies were selected. Nomination criteria include the establishment and maintenance of a security program that goes well beyond minimum National Industrial Security Program requirements and demonstration of leadership to other cleared facilities in setting high security standards. The awards were presented at the 50^th annual National Classification Management Society training seminar on June 17 at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Maryland.
