BETHESDA, Md., June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Defense Security Service (DSS) recognized six Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) sites with its 2012 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Awards.

The awards were presented at the annual National Classification Management Society training seminar for industrial security professionals on June 13, 2012, in Orlando, Fla. According to DSS, the Cogswell award is the most prestigious honor that can be bestowed to cleared industry, this year recognizing only 26 of the 13,000 cleared contractors. The criteria include establishing and maintaining a security program that goes well beyond the minimum National Industrial Security Program requirements and providing leadership to other cleared facilities to set high standards for security.

Lockheed Martin's Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, Md., which has received six consecutive "Superior" ratings from DSS, received the award along with five additional field locations.

• Information Systems & Global Solutions, IS&GS-Defense (Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Provides overall security support to the Mission and Space Operations Support (MSOS) section of IS&GS-Defense Operational Systems & Services, including more than 30 programs in MSOS, 1,800 employees globally and core competencies in space and range, manufacturing and production, security systems and depot services. The site has earned six consecutive "Superior" ratings from DSS and this is the site's third Cogswell Award. 
• Lockheed Martin Global Training and Logistics (GTL) (Orlando, Fla.) – Provides training and logistics support for customers located in more than 50 countries across the globe. GTL offers a full range of logistics, mission operations support, readiness, engineering support and integration services. Headquartered in Orlando, Fla., GTL has more than 10,000 people worldwide and has received three consecutive "Superior" ratings from the DSS.
• Lockheed Martin Customer Support Services Facility (Middletown, R.I.) – As part of Mission Systems and Sensors (MS2), provides engineering services in support of surface and subsurface platforms. The facility has been awarded five consecutive "Superior" ratings from the DSS.
• Mission Systems and Sensors Facility (Manassas, Va.) – Provides mission-critical support to a wide variety of programs, including counter-improved explosive device measures, undersea surveillance systems, weapon fire control systems and airborne anti-submarine warfare systems. The Manassas facility is the primary sensors and systems integrator for the U.S. Navy's submarine fleet. The facility has received three consecutive "Superior" ratings from the Defense Security Service (DSS).    
• Mission Systems and Sensors Facility (Syracuse, N.Y.) – Provides surface, air and undersea systems and sensors, including radar and surveillance; combat systems and C4I; and advanced technology production. The facility's security program has received two consecutive "Superior" ratings from the DSS.
