ROCKVILLE, Md., June 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is proud to announce that Haden Land, vice president of engineering and chief technology officer of the company's Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS)-Civil product line, has been named a member of the Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) board.

Land will serve among leading Hispanic information technology experts from Fortune 50 companies to major universities. HITEC's vision focuses on preparing current and future Hispanic IT leaders with necessary skills and professional development opportunities to advance into executive leadership, providing high-quality leadership and helping their corporations compete in an evolving global business environment.

Since joining Lockheed Martin in 1984, Land has held a successive series of positions in information technology development and management roles. He currently leads the development of new business technical solutions, cross-company IT development, industry-academic partnerships, sponsorship of research and development projects and emerging technology planning. Land also plays a leading role on the Lockheed Martin Hispanic Executive Council to support a diverse STEM workforce. magazine from 2006 to 2011 and named a "Most Influential Hispanic" by Hispanic Information Technology Executive Council in 2011 and 2012.

At the core of his leadership in IT and Hispanic communities, Land plays an influential role in a wide array of STEM education initiatives. Haden serves as a trustee at Capitol College where he helped develop and launch its Cyber Security Battle Lab that simulates cyber attacks for Capitol students and partner institutions.  Land also serves on the Prince George's Community College Foundation Board where he recently established a nursing education scholarship and actively provides strategic planning guidance.

Land holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science from Potsdam University where he is a trustee, enhanced computer science curricula and endowed a lifetime scholarship for STEM related internships within the Aerospace & Defense Industry. He is a recipient of the university's Minerva Award for professional lifetime achievement. He also has a master's degree in computer and information science from Syracuse University and an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters, Honoris Causa from Capitol College.
