ROCKVILLE, Md., May 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Six hundred Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] employees on the Automated Flight Service Station (AFSS) program, represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), have agreed to a new four-year contract.

The AFSS team is located in six locations around the country: Prescott, Ariz.; Fort Worth, Texas; Miami; Raleigh, N.C.; Ashburn, Va.; and Princeton, Minn. They perform essential pre-flight and in-flight services to more than 80,000 members of the general aviation community each week.
"This new agreement was the result of outstanding efforts by union and company bargaining committees to negotiate both economic and non-economic elements of the job package," said Stephanie C. Hill, president of Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions-Civil division.
The new four-year contract covers the period between May 26, 2012 and April 24, 2016. The agreement includes a competitive pay package with four general wage increases over four years; a flexible vacation and holiday package; industry-leading health care coverage, and continuation of the company's competitive retirement savings plans.
Lockheed Martin has operated AFSS on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) since 2005. In 2011, the Lockheed Martin team accomplished the following:
- Filed more than 1 million flight plans for aviation pilots;
- Provided more than 1.5 million pilot weather briefings;
- Answered 406,811 aviation radio contacts; and
- Helped pilots in 9,987 aviation search and rescue events.
