"The installation of new servers will allow the customer to reap future financial benefits and reduction of technical risks," said Angie Heise, director of the ACE-IT program for Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions. "These benefits are associated with less physical servers, less space required in labs resulting in lower utility costs, and reduced on-site administration as we move to virtual servers."
"Phase one of the project involved purchasing, delivering, and installing new hardware for all Corps of Engineers' district and division offices in North America. This is providing a solid foundation for the virtualization and consolidation of 1,500 legacy servers with the additional benefits of less physical servers and less space required in data centers resulting in lower utility costs and reduced on-site administration."
