ROCKVILLE, Md., June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) with Fulcrum Vets LLC have been selected by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to be among the first companies to support a new initiative to increase prime contracting opportunities for small, disadvantaged or veteran-owned businesses across all federal agencies. Lockheed Martin teamed with Fulcrum Vets LLC in a mentor-protege program between a prime contractor and a small business.

Fulcrum Vets, of Westminster, Md., is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business that offers a wide range of information technology (IT) program management and IT services specializing in reducing costs and improving overall operational efficiencies through collaboration and a commitment to meet changing business requirements. For the past year, Fulcrum Vets has been working with Lockheed Martin in a mentor-protege program that is focused on helping small companies become part of the vendor-supplier pipeline within the federal marketplace.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization Mentor-Protege Office selected Lockheed Martin and Fulcrum Vets as one of the first teams approved for the new HHS Mentor-Protege Program which is designed to expand the agency's vendor base by increasing prime contracting opportunities for small businesses, and foster the establishment of long-term business relationships between HHS large prime contractors and small businesses.
Lockheed Martin will mentor Fulcrum Vets as it works on HHS IT services and systems integration contracts.

Fulcrum Vets is currently supporting Lockheed Martin on the Chief Information Officer Solutions and Partners 2 indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity vehicle and the Consolidated Information Technology Infrastructure Contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Lockheed Martin has developed many successful partnerships through mentor-protege agreements over the years. Most recently the Mentor-Protege agreement between Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) and ISYS Technologies of Littleton, Colo., received a Department of Defense Nunn-Perry Award, which honors outstanding and successful Mentor-Protege relationships. It was the corporation's tenth award since its inception by the Department of Defense Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) in 1995. Also
