WOODLAND, Washington -
LifePort, Inc. today announced the signing of an agreement with Aveos – a Canadian full-service Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) aviation company – to provide five custom-designed medical beds for Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND) A310 Airbus. Aveos has contracted LifePort to engineer the specialized medical beds as a mission kit to meet the demanding requirements of DND medical and aviation staff when needed aboard the twin-engine, wide body A310 jet airliner. LifePort is a Sikorsky Aerospace Services (SAS) company – the aftermarket division of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).
“Our goal is to provide customized interior solutions for any aircraft and for any mission. Coupled with our extensive engineering and certification experience, we have the ability to design unique products to customers’ precise specifications. We are delighted to have this opportunity to work with Aveos and look forward to providing high quality, turn-key solutions for future projects,” said Noah Zuckerman, LifePort’s Vice President of Business Development and Strategy.
Ideally suited for long-range transport of patients, the Canadian Airbus A310 will be used for repatriation missions. For maximum patient comfort, LifePort will customize every aspect of the medical beds – from the dimensions of the bed thickness to the type and locations of medical mounts, storage provisions and overall envelope. Equipped to mount multiple medical equipment devices, the specialized beds will include a redundant system that provides dual oxygen and an articulating bed top. Additional offerings will include an Electronic Muscle Stimulator (EMS) unit ergonomically tailored to suit the needs of DND medical operators. This unit will be designed for quick removal and easy re-installation between missions. LifePort will design, manufacture, and obtain Transport Canada’s Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) for the systems.
“LifePort was selected for the DND medical bed project as a result of their outstanding technical know-how in this field, in addition to their ability to offer a customized solution with emphasis on customer satisfaction,” said Yves Morin, Director, Engineering at Aveos.
