Philadelphia, PA – February 25, 2011 – PAL teens take over 26 city jobs! On Monday, February 28, 26 teens from the Police Athletic League will have the opportunity to be city officials for the day during Lockheed Martin PAL Day at City Hall. Lockheed Martin is a proud sponsor of this community event.
At the event, the PAL teens will shadow city officials for the day and learn the ins and outs of how the city of Philadelphia is run. The day will be marked with a swearing in ceremony beginning at 10:30 am. Then, starting at noon, the youngsters will shadow city officials such as Mayor Michael Nutter, Managing Director Richard Negrin, Esq., Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers and Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey. With the support of Fashion Bug, operated by Charming Shoppes, Inc., all of the young ladies participating in Lockheed Martin PAL Day at City Hall were given new business attire. With help from Tates Menswear, all of the young men were outfitted, as well.
Participants from 26 PAL center locations were nominated by their PAL officer for their dedication and participation in PAL, as well as their academic and extracurricular achievements in the community. In order to be paired with a city official, they had to go through a rigorous selection process. The process is designed to match them up with the city official that best complements their future interests.
