SPRINGFIELD, Va., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Department of Defense and the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) have selected Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) to receive one of the Top 5 DoD Program Awards given annually for excellence in systems engineering.
Lockheed Martin's Defense Readiness Reporting System-Army (DRRS-A) program was honored for its illustrated engineering excellence, rapid development approaches, risk management and comprehensive reviews. The Lockheed Martin team successfully transitioned the stand-alone solution to a robust web-enabled software suite through user-developer collaboration.
The Top 5 DoD Program Awards for 2009 recognize highly successful programs that have clearly demonstrated the benefits derived from the application of systems engineering best practices, including system technical baseline control and the integration of technical and program management processes. U.S. Army and Lockheed Martin representatives received the award October 27 at the NDIA's 13th Annual Systems Engineering Conference in San Diego, Calif.
"The DRRS-A team is a diverse blend of Lockheed Martin and teammate talent which provides Army domain knowledge with a great understanding of new technologies," said Steve Mayhew, program manager. "This award is a reflection of our products and systems that perform to the highest standards and our commitment to excellence for the customer."
DRRS-A is a web-based capability that generates the authoritative Army Force Readiness and Force Registration data for use by Army and Joint classified and unclassified systems of record. DRRS-A provides the supporting access control, database, interface management, and query tools required for successful execution of the readiness and registration mission. All of the applications share the same core technologies and comply with the DRRS-A style guide, ensuring that a user can quickly adapt to any of them. Primary work is conducted in Springfield, Va.
