Norristown High School received certification for the school's new "Project Lead The Way" (PLTW) curriculum, forging a new path to help prepare students for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). PLTW partners with middle schools and high schools to provide a rigorous, relevant STEM education. Through an engaging, hands-on curriculum, PLTW encourages the development of problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creative and innovative reasoning by providing students with a foundation and proven path to college and career success in STEM-related fields.

Lockheed Martin , a partner and champion of the school's program, participated in certification interviews with PLTW officials at the Norristown High School facility. Upon delivering the news of the certification, PLTW officials gave high marks to the school's administration, teachers, and students for their achievements in curriculum development and execution. Special commendation was made regarding the school's partnership with Lockheed Martin, which began in May 2009.
