Glaese, who works at the Lockheed Martin Flight Services center in Columbia, Mo., has received the organization's 2009 Air Traffic Control Specialist of the Year award for flight service. He was presented the award today in Washington during ATCA's 54th annual conference and exposition. ATCA also honored two other air traffic control specialists for en route and terminal excellence.
According to ATCA President Peter F. Dumont, Glaese was selected for the outstanding performance and service he provides to general aviation pilots as a flight service specialist on the FAA Automated Flight Service Station program that is managed by Lockheed Martin Flight Services.
"We're very proud of Todd, and he is quite deserving of the honor," said Sandra Samuel, vice president of Lockheed Martin's Transportation Solutions business. "Todd has contributed significantly to the success of our flight services contract since it was awarded in 2005. During the performance period for which this award was judged, Todd exceeded all operational performance requirements with exceptional accuracy."
"Todd is an asset to his operational team," noted Kyle LePage, his supervisor at the Columbia facility. "He promotes teamwork and excellence, has an exceptional work ethic, and usually resolves operational and equipment issues on his own. His ultimate goal is to assist and service the aviation customers in a professional manner."
Some of Glaese's achievements outlined in the nomination submitted for the award included scoring 100 percent on all internal and external pilot weather briefing evaluations, 98 percent on all National Weather Service evaluations, and 100 percent on all internal evaluations of flight plans, contract weather entries, in-flight radio transmissions and pilot reports. He also successfully applied all FAA and Lockheed Martin operational policies and procedures that relate to operational tasks such as filing flight plans, contract weather data entry and using specific techniques in providing elements of a briefing.
"Todd has and continues to set the standard for excellence in performance and aviation safety for both the FAA and Lockheed Martin," Samuel emphasized.
