Lockheed Martin announced today that it has been awarded the Global Broadcast Service (GBS) Satellite Broadcast Management (SBM) Defense Enterprise Computing Center (DECC) Transition contract by the U.S. Air Force's Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom AFB, Mass. The four-year program is valued at $36 million.

"GBS will allow us to apply the broad range of our capabilities from hardware and software architecture to seamlessly transitioning operational systems."

Global Broadcast Service, or GBS, distributes content such as streaming video, files, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance imagery via satellites to warfighters around the world. The new architecture will be housed at the primary DECC in Oklahoma City, Okla., and another DECC, in Ogden, Utah, will serve as the Continuity of Operations site. Majority of work will be performed in Gaithersburg, Md., and Colorado Springs, Colo.
