ORLANDO, Fla.

Lockheed Martin Corporation has been selected by the U.S. Navy for a firm fixed price, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract to provide Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS) performance based logistics (PBL) maintenance and support services for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps beginning with an initial $26 million task order. The overall five-year contract with a $221 million ceiling has two additional one-year options and will provide PBL for up to 500 U.S. Navy and Marine Corps hybrid, radio frequency, communications navigation and instrumentation CASS stations.

"We have developed a range of cost-effective solutions by leveraging existing infrastructure, developing new technology and improving the business process for the Navy under CASS PBL," explained Debra Palmer, vice president of logistics at Lockheed Martin Simulation, Training & Support. "This is designed to serve the Navy's needs, first by developing the CASS program and by providing the excellent support they have come to expect."

Lockheed Martin was awarded its first CASS contract in 1994 and an additional support contract in 2000 to ensure the availability of CASS automatic test equipment for full service contracts, supply PBL fleet customers and guarantee turnaround time for basic repair and return services customers.

A key discriminator in PBL is the Logistics Information System (LIS), a state-of-the-art, repair, overhaul and inventory management application developed and fielded by Lockheed Martin. It is currently being used on more than 25 government and commercial programs. LIS is approved for use to monitor all customer property returned to Lockheed Martin for repair from receipt through repair and return to the customer. LIS gives the Navy a web-based capability to access material status, shipping status, transit visibility and performance data. The LIS database is also used to monitor shipment dates, vendor repair and return time, and location after the asset is returned to inventory.

Headquartered in Bethesda, MD, Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 140,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The corporation reported 2007 sales of $41.9 billion.
