The NGW is a flexible, multi-function console that integrates Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) technologies for a variety of requirements ranging from commercial settings to full military standards installations. The product's design is based on the modular open systems approach, providing applications developers and systems integrators the flexibility to choose hardware and software components to meet program requirements, while also maintaining a platform that is optimized for future technology insertion and refresh.
"Lockheed Martin's Next Generation Workstation helps answer the emerging requirements of modern navies with a flexible, configurable console that allows operator multi-tasking," said John H. Westergren, Lockheed Martin's NGW program manager. "This agreement also helps establish a low-cost, reliable production and engineering foothold in the European naval market."
GEM elettronica President Giuseppe Merlini said, "We are extremely honored that Lockheed Martin is looking at GEM elettronica as a licensed manufacturer for their state-of-the-art multi-functional naval consoles."
GEM elettronica will display the NGW at the Euronaval International Naval Defence and Maritime Exposition and Conference, on October 27-31, in Paris, France.
