The U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded Lockheed Martin a Mk48 Torpedo support task order, which consists of one three-month base period, one nine-month base option, and four one-year options. The task order, which has a total value of $35 million, will be performed at the Navy's Heavyweight Torpedo Intermediate Maintenance Activity at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

"We look forward to our new role to provide the commander of Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, with Mk 48 exercise and warshot torpedoes to meet fleet operational readiness, training, and tactical commitments," said Larry Gilliam, vice president of defense programs for Lockheed Martin Mission Services.

Lockheed Martin personnel will perform technical and supply support, quality assurance, inventory management, and technical documentation functions. They will receive, inspect, induct, process, and issue torpedoes, performing maintenance actions and associated torpedo component and test equipment troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.
