Lockheed Martin Corporation has been selected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to compete for future information technology task orders under the Enterprise System Development (ESD) contracting vehicle. Sixteen other companies were also selected to compete for ESD tasks.

ESD is an indefinite-delivery-indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract established by CMS with a one-year base and nine one-year option periods, with a contract ceiling of $4 billion.

Services to be provided under ESD will include the design, development, implementation, and operations and maintenance for CMS's automated systems and business application software, at Capability Maturity Model Integration 3, that integrate hardware, software, and communication technologies resulting in sound, secure, effective, and maintainable business applications and systems.

"We feel enormous pride in being a valued member of the CMS support team," said Steve Lubniewski, President of Lockheed Martin's Enterprise Solutions & Services unit. "We thank the agency for the opportunity to continue and expand our relationship as we pursue future roles as an ESD industry partner."

The majority of the work will take place at the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, located in Baltimore, MD. The base year is expected to begin September 17, 2007.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin employs about 140,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services. The corporation reported 2006 sales of $39.6 billion.
