Lockheed Martin Chosen for Jet Propulsion Lab Contract
Desktop, computing and help desk services agreement has potential value of $227 Million

Lockheed Martin Corporation has been selected by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, Calif., to provide desktop services and unified help desk support under the Desktop and Institutional Computing Environment (DICE) contract, valued at $110 million for the first three years, totaling an estimated $227 million over 10 years.

The contract has a base period of three years and seven option years. Lockheed Martin will work in partnership with the Office of the Chief Information Officer to provide enhanced desktop services and establish a unified help desk. Effective January 1, 2008, the new contract will replace the current Desktop Network Services (DNS) contract currently held by Lockheed Martin.

Services to be provided under JPL DICE will include desktop services, hardware replenishment, computing capacity, enterprise services, as well as other services currently provided under the DNS contract. Additionally, Lockheed Martin will consolidate the 13 existing help desks into one unified help desk as well as provide JPL with a unified messaging system.

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory is a federally-funded research and development facility managed by the California Institute of Technology for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Lockheed Martin was awarded the current JPL DNS contract in December 1997, and it began work providing the laboratory with desktop refresh services, service center help desk, remote desktop management and desk-side support, software distribution and license management, configuration management, asset management, and e-catalog support of desktops. The DNS contract is scheduled to end in December 2007.
