Lockheed Martin Corporation today announced that Linda R. Gooden will succeed retiring executive Michael F. Camardo as executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Information & Technology Services (I&TS), effective January 1, 2007.

Reporting directly to Chairman, President and CEO Bob Stevens, Gooden, 53, will be responsible for all business operations and activities of the corporation's $4 billion I&TS unit, which is primarily involved in support services to the U.S. government.

"Linda is an extremely capable leader who has demonstrated her ability to create value for our customers and profitable growth for our company and its shareholders," said Stevens. "We are fortunate to have such a talented executive on our leadership team."

Gooden has served as President of Lockheed Martin Information Technology, based in Seabrook, Md., since 1997 and is largely responsible for growing that business from a small, one-customer, one-contract division to a 14,000- employee enterprise providing IT services to federal agencies across the U.S. in more than 60 major locations and in 18 foreign countries. In October of this year, she took on additional responsibilities when she was appointed Deputy Executive Vice President for I&TS. She is also an Officer of Lockheed Martin, elected in April 2001.

Prior to her current position, Gooden served as Vice President of Lockheed Martin's Software Support Services unit and earlier held other positions of increasing responsibility within the corporation's Data Systems and Information Systems companies. She joined Lockheed Martin in 1980 and was previously employed as a software engineer for General Dynamics.

Gooden has a long record of achievement for which she has earned national recognition, including, most recently, being named 2006 Black Engineer of the Year by U.S. Black Engineer and Information Technology magazine. She also actively supports many professional, academic, and civic organizations, and serves on numerous executive boards including Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) International; Information Technology Association of America (ITAA); University of Maryland's A. James Clark School of Engineering and Robert H. Smith School of Business' Center for Electronic Markets & Enterprises; University of Maryland, Baltimore County; and Prince George's Community College Foundation; Maryland Business Roundtable for Education; and the Executive Leadership Council.

She received her degree in computer technology from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, and completed post-baccalaureate studies at San Diego State University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, University College. In 2005, she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from the University of Maryland University College in recognition of her service to the community and to higher education.

Of retiring executive Mike Camardo, Stevens said: "We are deeply appreciative of Mike's many significant contributions to our business, especially his efforts to embed a 'service' mentality into our culture. Mike has been instrumental in developing some of our production and manufacturing- based businesses to a services-based model, well positioned for the future."
