Two Lockheed Martin defense programs are being recognized for program excellence by the Department of Defense (DoD) and the National Defense Industrial Association. The Integrated Exploitation Capability and Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System Programs each have been named in the top five as DoD Program Award winners for 2005 in the annual Pentagon and Defense Industry honors.

"Awards such as this not only highlight our achievements in these two important programs, but also validate our commitment to excellence and affirm our leading systems engineering approach," Stan Sloane, executive vice president, Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems & Solutions (IS&S), said.

The Integrated Exploitation Capability (IEC) provides a configurable system, comprised of Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) hardware and software, to manage and exploit softcopy imagery from national, commercial, and airborne platforms. The program provides for the development and delivery of frequent system upgrades, around-the-clock remote operational monitoring and support, and hardware/software procurement, deployment, and training. IEC is the critical tool used for military operations, safety of navigation, homeland security, national security events, and natural disasters. IEC's successes include a range of accolades from the Intelligence and Defense Communities to civil and military users.

The Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System (TTWCS) is designed to provide flexibility and responsiveness to all variants of the U.S. Navy's Tomahawk cruise missile. The system adds the revolutionary capability to plan new missions aboard the launch platform and communicate with multiple Tomahawks to rapidly retarget and redirect the missiles in flight.
