The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has approved Lockheed Martin as capable of offering federal agencies a complete end-to-end solution for timely compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12). The presidential mandate will create a standard biometric identification card for all federal workers, ensuring maximum protection of important governmental assets.

"Lockheed Martin's solution rests on reliable, sophisticated identification and access management technology that can be deployed quickly in order to meet the HSPD- 12 deadline."

Lockheed Martin successfully demonstrated its BioUnique(TM) Identity Framework for government agencies as part of a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Md. The BioUnique(TM) modular solution accurately captures a variety of personal identification information and creates an unalterable audit trail for every credential that's processed. Approval from the GSA authorizes Lockheed Martin to supply services and products related to integration, activation and finalization, card management and production, enrollment and registration, and systems infrastructure.

"The bottom line is that agencies have options with Lockheed Martin," said Jon Rambeau, Lockheed Martin's director of Credentialing and Law Enforcement Solutions. "Given GSA approval and our modular BioUnique(TM) Framework solution, we have the ability to give agencies exactly what they need to reach compliance."

The company implemented a flexible business model approach to HSPD-12 product and service procurement. Federal agencies can select individual products or services -- or Lockheed Martin's full end-to-end solution framework. Additionally, smaller agencies may elect to participate in a managed service agreement encompassing multiple agencies, leveraging volume purchase power.

"We've leveraged a strong history of developing modular, scalable products for the law enforcement and commercial sectors, technology that has allowed these customers to fulfill truly challenging program requirements and directly relates to the parameters outlined in HSPD-12," Rambeau continued.
