MOORESTOWN, N.J.

More than two dozen small, advanced technology businesses set up shop at Lockheed Martin's Moorestown business today to share their innovations and capabilities directly with Lockheed Martin engineers.

The companies participating in the Small Business Innovation Technology Day are working on Defense Department-funded programs to develop next- generation technologies under the Small Business Innovation Research program. Lockheed Martin invited 29 businesses to its Moorestown campus based on technologies directly related to ongoing or expected programs and customer needs.

"The purpose of this event is to collaborate with small companies to identify and leverage their innovation and technologies that are aligned with our products and customers," said Orlando Carvalho, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin's business in Moorestown. "We trust these collaborations also have the potential to lead to long-term partnerships that will continue to enhance the value of the solutions we provide our customers in the future."

The participating companies came from all corners of the United States, representing 12 states. The technologies represented by the businesses covered a wide spectrum of high technology needs in a maritime environment, including unmanned vehicles, software development, signal processing, energy storage, nanotechnology, optical systems and display systems.

Headquartered in Bethesda, MD, Lockheed Martin employs about 135,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services.
