Lockheed Martin named Judy F. Marks executive vice president of its Transportation and Security Solutions (TSS) business unit, effective May 1, and said she will become company president in October 2005 as Don Antonucci transitions to retirement. Marks has served as president of Lockheed Martin Distribution Technologies line of business in Owego, NY, since March 2001.

In her previous role, Marks was instrumental in positioning Lockheed Martin as one of the world's leading suppliers of automation and recognition systems for national postal providers such as the U.S. Postal Service and the United Kingdom's Royal Mail.

"Judy Marks' engineering, business and leadership experience will provide a solid base for developing both new customers and market domains for our Transportation and Security Solutions business," said Robert B. Coutts, executive vice president for Lockheed Martin's Electronic Systems Business Area, which includes TSS. "With her intellectual agility and absolute commitment to customer satisfaction, Judy Marks is ideally suited to assume the top executive position in an enterprise that is well positioned in growth markets including critical information management and homeland security."

After receiving her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Lehigh University, Marks started her career with IBM in 1984 as a systems engineer. She rapidly advanced into management, serving in a variety of positions including engineering management, program management, business development, and marketing positions before her appointment as Distribution Technologies president in 2001.

Antonucci will remain with Lockheed Martin into 2006, supporting strategic initiatives in the advanced air traffic management, civil government information management and security marketplaces. Commenting on Antonucci, who will retire following an industry career spanning more than 35 years, Coutts said: "Under Don Antonucci's leadership, Lockheed Martin Transportation and Security Solutions achieved high levels of customer satisfaction; was repeatedly recognized by peer groups as a leader in the air traffic management industry; successfully introduced new products and entered new market spaces; and built a workforce that stands as a model of diversity."

Lockheed Martin Transportation and Security Solutions specializes in advanced aviation management, security and other mission-critical information technology solutions. Areas of focus include air traffic management; airport, physical and border security; and civil agency efforts involving advanced systems for managing sensitive information, such as census data capture, electronic records archiving, and communications network infrastructure programs. TSS employs approximately 2,200 people at its headquarters in Rockville, MD, and major facilities in the Washington Metropolitan Area, Atlantic City, NJ, Eagan, MN, Orlando, FL, Owego, NY, and the United Kingdom.

Headquartered in Bethesda, MD, Lockheed Martin employs about 130,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design,

development, manufacture and integration of advanced technology systems, products and services.
