Wei-San Lily O'Byrne, vice president of Systems Design and Integration at Lockheed Martin Enterprise Information Systems, has received one of 15 Asian American Engineer of the Year awards from the Chinese Institute of Engineers/USA. The California resident is honored for her contributions to the field of Information Technology.

The award was presented at a special award banquet held as a highlight of the annual E-Week celebration, according to the Chinese Institute of Engineers. The Asian American Engineer of the Year Award Banquet is the only program of its kind in conjunction with the celebration of the National Engineers Week in the United States.

"Such an award always reflects the work of more than one person -- for that I am most grateful to the team of IT professionals at Lockheed Martin who helped me achieve this honor," O'Byrne said.

O'Byrne, who has been involved in computer engineering for 30 years, leads a team of over 1,400 professionals. In 2004, she received a patent award as co-inventor of the "System and Method of Enterprise Risk Evaluation and Planning." She is currently a member of the Lockheed Martin Corporate Technical Council.
