Lockheed Martin Wins $525 Million SSA Contract; AWSSC Award Expands Information Technology Partnership

Lockheed Martin has won a $525 million, seven-year contract to provide information technology support to the Social Security Administration (SSA), continuing a long-term partnership aimed at helping the agency meet its mission and challenges for the future.

The Agency Wide Support Services Contract (AWSSC) encompasses a complete range of services related to SSA's major systems modernization initiatives. The AWSSC continues the work Lockheed Martin is currently performing under its Enterprise Technology Services Contract with the agency. Lockheed Martin has been supporting SSA since 1989, when it began work under the agency's Software Support Services Contract.

Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will provide support in application design, development, testing, and maintenance; database administration and imaging and document management; data administration and programmatic repository and enterprise architecture; software engineering and technology; emerging technology applications; and software engineering management. The contract was awarded by the SSA Office of Acquisitions and Grants in Baltimore, Md.

Teammates joining Lockheed Martin include Global Commerce and Information, Columbia, Md.; Pointe Technology Group, Inc., Landover, Md.; Computer Programs and Systems, Inc., Baltimore, Md.; RS Information Systems, Inc., McLean, Va.; ESS, Frederick, Md.; Apptis, Inc., Chantilly, Va.; SM Consulting, Inc., Linthicum, Md.; and BAE Systems Information Technology (DigitalNet), McLean, Va.

Approximately 25 percent of Lockheed Martin revenues are derived from information technology business. In fact, according to Washington Technology, Lockheed Martin is the number one provider of information technology to the Federal Government.
