Lockheed Martin has been selected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to support the development of a new enterprise-wide security architecture for its computers and networks.

Under the five-year, $140 million contract, Lockheed Martin will aid in development of the Bureau's new Technology Infusion Program. The TIP project is a key element of the FBI's effort to mitigate risk and reduce vulnerabilities of its most critical information assets.

Lockheed Martin will be systems integrator for the project. As the federal government's largest information technology provider, the company will help introduce advanced technology safeguards protecting the Bureau's most vulnerable assets.

Linda Gooden, president of Lockheed Martin Information Technology, said, "Our IT partnership with the FBI has over the years helped bring major benefits to the American public. We are operating and maintaining the FBI's System of Systems in West Virginia, and we have ongoing efforts to refresh the technology of the bureau's computer and network systems there.

"Today the cyber threats against our government systems are real. We stand prepared to help the FBI in its efforts to protect these most sensitive assets," she said. The Seabrook-based Lockheed Martin Information Technology unit also manages the network infrastructure for the Pentagon, develops software applications to aid the Social Security Administration payment process, and provides similar support to dozens of other government agencies.
