Lockheed Martin is introducing a new web site dedicated exclusively to its Littoral Combat Ship team and proposed solution. The site provides an accurate and timely information source for the Navy customer, key decision makers, interested news media, and congressional members and staff. In addition to fact-filled pages about Sea Blade(TM), the team's Advanced Semi-Planing Seaframe design, the site also features company highlights, a program brochure, and video.

"The web site is a great way to communicate information to all our constituents," said Carol Hulgus, vice president, programs for Lockheed Martin's Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems business. "We are proud of the high performance Sea Blade(TM) design as well as our low-risk, and affordable approach to the LCS requirement."

LCS is designed to be a persistent force for the U.S. Navy in littoral waters - within 100 miles of shore. Interchangeable mission packages will initially be tailored to perform focused missions against enemy patrol craft and small boats, shallow water mines, and diesel submarines.

The Lockheed Martin LCS team aims to build a low-cost, low-risk ship that will comfortably exceed the Navy's design thresholds. The team's approach is to combine the best companies, and the key technologies and processes they represent, to meet those requirements.

"Our highly complementary team, our commitment to an open business model, and our ship design, as well as our ability to produce it in a timely manner, will give the Navy confidence that Sea Blade(TM) is the best choice to meet the LCS requirement."

Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor for the Sea Blade(TM) team, with naval architect Gibbs & Cox and ship builders Bollinger Shipyards and Marinette Marine sharing significant roles as principal team members. The team continues to add core support companies where needed to optimize the ship's design.
