Two Lockheed Martin Aeronautics engineers have been chosen as winners of the 2003 Black Engineer of the Year Awards: Angele D. Harrison and William Harrison III.
Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. is a business area of Lockheed Martin Corp.
Angele Harrison, a materials engineer senior at the Marietta facility, was named the Most Promising Engineer. In just four years with Lockheed Martin, she has become an expert in selecting, specifying, developing, testing, evaluating and qualifying paint and coating materials for use on the F/A-22 aircraft. Her efforts have resulted in qualifying an improved adhesion primer, solving a silver paint osmotic blistering issue, and organizing, planning and executing the non-chromated primer qualification project.
William Harrison of Palmdale received an award in the Career Achievement category. He has more than 22 years of experience in the aerospace industry in the fields of Structural Dynamics and Structural Analysis. He is a key contributor to the success of the JSF Concept Development Aircraft program as a structural dynamicist, particularly in the analysis of the lift fan for the short take-off vertical-landing (STOVL) variant.
Other Lockheed Martin employees nominated for these awards were Marc P. Collins of Fort Worth for Outstanding Technical Contribution, and Nicholas G. Mitchell of Marietta for Professional Achievement.
