A team of five Lockheed Martin Tactical Systems employees in Eagan, along with five corporate colleagues, have been selected to receive Lockheed Martin's highest award, the NOVA, for their work on a U.S. Air Force homeland defense program.
The Eagan team members -- Lauren Cady, Harry Fager, Mike Johnson, Mike Kegler and Doug Schmitt -- worked on the Air Force project which features the integration of Lockheed Martin products designed to create low-risk and low- cost solutions integrating Lockheed Martin Tactical Systems' Air Sovereignty Operations Center with Lockheed Martin Mission Systems' Theater Battle Management Core Systems and Integrated Space Command and Control programs. The solution represents an important step in meeting the critical need to unify air defense capabilities across the U.S.
"This award represents the excellent exchange of ideas, solutions, and creativity Lockheed Martin teams are able to provide the corporation's clients," said Doug Schmitt, program leader. "We hope our efforts will contribute to our nation's homeland defense efforts."
The five Lockheed Martin Mission Systems employees are located in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The award will be presented to a team representative on September 27 at Lockheed Martin's Eighth Annual NOVA Awards, at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C. The NOVA award program was established in 1995 to recognize outstanding contributions to the corporation's mission and business objectives. Awards are made annually in four categories -- Exceptional Service, Leadership, Teamwork, and Technical Excellence -- to individuals or teams selected from Lockheed Martin's 125,000 employees.
