Lockheed Martin elected Nolan D. Archibald to its board of directors on April 25, 2002. Archibald is Chairman, President and CEO, of the Black & Decker Corporation. Lockheed Martin directors serve one-year terms.

Archibald, 58, has had a distinguished career as a business leader. He was elected President and Chief Operating Officer of Black & Decker in 1985 and Chief Executive Officer in 1986. Prior to that he served in a number of executive positions with Beatrice Companies, Inc. including President of Del Mar Window Coverings, President of Stiffel Lamp Company, and President of the Home Products Division. He also was Senior Vice President of Beatrice and President of the Consumer & Commercial Products Group. He also held various executive positions with Conroy, Inc.

Archibald holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He also serves as a director of the Brunswick Corporation.
