The Lockheed Martin
Awarded as part of a competitive bid, the goal is to train a new screener workforce that will protect the flying public and maintain the smooth running of the aviation system by the efficient and courteous moving of passengers who represent no threat through security checkpoints. The contract is initially funded at $25 million, with a potential value of up to $105 million.
"Our team is ready to start immediately," said Elmer Nelson, program executive, Lockheed Martin Homeland Security. "We have been working together since October in preparation for the RFP and contract award, and have a corps of experienced trainers ready to go."
The Lockheed Martin team is the number one provider of training to the United States military, and trains thousands of Department of Defense and Federal Government students per year. As part of the effort, passenger screeners will focus on pattern recognition, develop the ability to cope with conflicts and perform duties while being subjected to distractions, and sharpen their skills related to object identification and removal.
