Lockheed Martin Performs Network Support for NIMA

Information Support Services, a business unit of Lockheed Martin Corporation , is continuing to provide computer network support for the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) under a contracting task order of $17 million for fiscal year 2001 from the Defense Information System Agency.

Under the agreement which became effective last November, Lockheed Martin provides operation, maintenance and engineering support for the system, which includes local and wide area networks, client-server hardware, desktop computers and infrastructure. The company will furnish help desk personnel to serve NIMA's workforce in the Washington, D.C. area, in St. Louis, MO, and other locations.

Linda Gooden, president of Information Support Services, credited the company's "men and women who serve NIMA and its nationally-critical mission. Their efforts keep vital information flowing securely to defense and other national policy makers with requirements for the data." Gooden's organization has performed this work for NIMA since 1997.

The task order was issued under the Defense Enterprise Integration System II contracting vehicle and covers a period of one year, with options until September 2003.

NIMA is a Department of Defense combat support agency. Established in 1996, NIMA has a global mission with unique responsibilities to manage and provide imagery and geospatial information to national policy makers, military forces, and other members of the U.S. Intelligence Community.
