BACKGROUND:
To help give back to those who give so much for our nation, Lockheed Martin is dedicated to supporting service members with programs that improve their lives and the lives of their families, enhance educational and training opportunities, and honor their selfless duty to our country. Lockheed Martin Space Systems' Community Relations team partners with the USO each year to host a Holiday Box event at different company locations around the country. Other host locations include Huntsville, Alabama, and Sunnyvale and Palo Alto, California.

The USO's Holiday Care Package program is designed to bring holiday cheer and a touch of home to service members who are not able to be with their loved ones during the holidays. Spending time away from family and friends during the holidays is tough, especially when service members are in difficult training rotations or in remote places of the world.

The USO's Holiday Care Package program provides service members with items that they often don't have access to, so that they can use to celebrate the holidays as if they were home. Throughout the year, four different themed care packages are sent to units in need of a special touch of home. Each individual Holiday Care Package contains specific supplies, snacks, and activities that are tailored to the upcoming Holidays.

USO Holiday Care Packages, each intended to support about 50 service members, group together several holiday seasons in an effort to send as much enjoyment as possible in each shipment.
