Thomas J. Jurkowsky Named Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs, For Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems

Thomas J. Jurkowsky has been appointed vice president, communications and public affairs, for Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems.

Jurkowsky most recently served as Chief of Naval Information for the U.S. Navy, retiring from the service with the rank of Rear Admiral following a distinguished 30-year career. In his new capacity, Jurkowsky will be responsible for all communications activities -- including media relations, advertising, marketing communications, community relations and employee communications -- for Lockheed Martin's Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems (NE&SS) businesses. Principal NE&SS businesses are located in Akron, Ohio; Baltimore; Eagan, Minnesota; Moorestown, New Jersey; Manassas, Virginia; and Syracuse, New York.

As Chief of Naval Information, Jurkowsky led the service's worldwide public affairs organization with executive responsibilities including strategic planning, integration of public affairs and legislative strategies, and direction of more than 500 communications professionals. Earlier assignments included directing all Navy public affairs in the Pacific theater and leading the public affairs function for the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. Jurkowsky holds a master's degree in public relations from American University and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University.
